What was the procedure with the benedictions of the High Priest? The Synagogue attendant takes a Torah-scroll and hands it to the Synagogue-president. The Synagogue-president hands it to the deputy and he hands it to the High Priest. The High Priest stands, receives [the scroll] and reads [therein] after the death and howbeit on the tenth day. Then he rolls the Torah-scroll together, places it in his bosom and exclaims, `more than I have read before you is written here!` the passage `on the tenth day`, which is in The Book of numbers, he reads by heart, and he recites eight benedictions in connection therewith, viz., over the Torah, for the Temple-service, for the thanksgiving, for the pardon of sin, over the Temple, over Israel, over the priests, over Jerusalem, and the rest of The Prayer.

ברכות כוהן גדול כיצד׃ חזן הכנסת נוטל ספר תורה, ונותנו לראש הכנסת, וראש הכנסת נותנו לסגן, והסגן נותנו לכוהן גדול; וכוהן גדול עומד ומקבל, וקורא עומד׃ קורא ''אחרי מות''  (ויקרא טז,א)  ו''אך בעשור''  (ויקרא כג,כז) ; וגולל את התורה, ומניחה בחיקו ואומר, יתר ממה שקראתי לפניכם כתוב׃ ''ובעשור''  (במדבר כט,ז)  שבחומש הפקודים קורא על פה; ומברך עליהם שמונה ברכות-- על התורה, ועל העבודה, ועל ההודיה, ועל מחילת העוון, ועל המקדש, ועל ישראל, ועל הכוהנים, ועל שאר התפילה

What was the procedure in connection with the portion read by the king? At the conclusion of the First Day of the festival [of Tabernacles] in the eighth, i.e., the end of the seventh, they erect a wooden dais in the Temple Court, upon which he sits; as it is said, at the end of every seven years, in the set time etc. The Synagogue-attendant takes a Torah-scroll and hands it to the Synagogue president, and the Synagogue-president hands it to the [High Priest`s] deputy. He hands it to the High Priest who hands it to the king. The king stands and receives it, but reads sitting. King Agrippa stood and received it and read standing, for which act the Sages praised him. When he reached, thou mayest not put a foreigner over thee, his eyes ran with tears. They said to him, `fear not, Agrippa, thou art our brother, thou art our brother!` [the king] reads from the beginning of Deuteronomy up to the Shema, the Shema, and it shall come to pass if ye hearken, thou shalt surely tithe, when thou hast made an end of tithing, the portion of the king, and the blessings and curses, until he finishes all the section. The king pronounces the same benedictions as the High Priest, except that he substitutes one for the festivals instead of one for the pardon of sin.

פרשת המלך כיצד׃ מוצאי יום טוב הראשון של חג, בשמיני במוצאי שביעית, עושין לו בימה של עץ בעזרה, והוא יושב עליה-- שנאמר ''מקץ שבע שנים, במועד שנת השמיטה-- בחג הסוכות׃ בבוא כל ישראל, ליראות ._._''׃  (דברים לא,י-יא) ׃ וחזן הכנסת נוטל ספר תורה, ונותנו לראש הכנסת, וראש הכנסת נותנו לסגן, והסגן נותנו לכוהן גדול, וכוהן גדול נותנו למלך; והמלך עומד ומקבל, וקורא יושב׃ אגריפס המלך עמד וקיבל, וקרא עומד; ושיבחוהו חכמים׃ וכשהגיע ''לא תוכל לתת עליך איש נוכרי, אשר לא אחיך הוא''  (דברים יז,טו) , זלגו עיניו דמעות; אמרו לו, אל תתיירא אגריפס, אחינו אתה, אחינו אתה׃ וקורא מתחילת ''אלה הדברים''  (דברים א,א)  ועד ''שמע''  (דברים ו,ד) , ו''שמע'', ''והיה, אם שמוע תשמעו''  (דברים יא,יג) , ''עשר תעשר''  (דברים יד,כב) , ו''כי תכלה לעשר''  (דברים כו,יב) , ברכות וקללות עד שהוא גומר את כולם׃ ברכות שכוהן גדול מברך-- הן המלך מברך, אלא שהוא נותן של רגלים תחת מחילת העוון
