197:10 Even if blood had come out of his body but had already stopped,
and they took off his clothes, and he (stayed) alive for some days, and
afterwards died, they cleanse him and make him shrouds, and even though
he is dirty with the blood that came out of him, even after cleansing
him well, because we aren't concerned about blood that left him while he
was alive, rather for blood that left him at the time of his death, we
fear that this was living blood1 or there was mixed in with it living
blood.
1) lit; the blood of the soul. |
197:11 A woman who died during childbirth is considered as one who was
killed, that if we know that much blood went out from her, she isn't
cleansed, however, if the blood already stopped from coming out and
afterwards she died, so we aren't worried about ''living blood'', we
treat her like the rest of the dead. In many communities they are
accustomed to cleansing every parturient1,2 and there are also many
other customs concerning the parturient, and every place to its own
customs.
1) A woman in labor, or giving birth. 2) Who died during childbirth.
197:12 One who was killed by an idolator, even if he didn't bleed at
all, as for example, if he was strangled, we bury him as he was found,1
in order to arouse anger.2
1) In the clothes he was wearing at the time of his death. 2) From those attending the funeral. |
