It's forbidden to mention the name of an idol whether for a reason, such
as saying to one's friend: ''wait for me by the side of such-and-such
idol'' or whether for no reason, as it's said:1 ''make no mention of the
name of other gods'' It's forbidden to cause idolators to say the name
of their idols as it's said:2 ''neither let it be heard out of your
mouth'' you shouldn't cause it to be heard. If a Gentile obliges one to
swear an oath, some (authorities) are lenient and allow one to swear.
The names of their festivals are like people's names, and there is no
concern about mentioning them, provided one doesn't call them like the
Gentile refers to them in a tone of importance.

168:1 It is written:1 ''you shall not make with me gods of silver ...''
and our sages, of blessed memory, have the tradition that this is a
warning that one shouldn't draw the likeness of anything from the higher
group2 or from the lower group. We should not make likenesses of the
angels who serve before G-d, therefore it is forbidden to draw the
likenesses of the four faces of the chariot.3 or the likeness of the ''Serafim'',4
the ''wheels'',3 and the administering angels. It's also forbidden to
draw the likeness of the sun, the moon or the stars. Even if they are
not in relief (solid) it is forbidden to make them. Even for a gentile,5
but to keep them in the home if they are not in relief (not solid but
flat) is allowed. One should not tell a gentile to make (for oneself)
one of them, because telling a gentile (to do) something forbidden from
the things forbidden (to us, is also forbidden) like the forbidden
activities of Shabbat.6
