He shouldn't let the children off except for Shabbat eve and festival eve at the end of the day. 165:12 A children's teacher that leaves the children and goes out, or
does some other work with them,1 or is negligent with his students, this
is in the category of ''Cursed be he that does the work of the Lord
negligently''2 Therefore, one shouldn't appoint a teacher except a G-d
fearing person, quick reading and accurate. The teacher shouldn't stay
awake at night too much, so that he won't be sluggish during the day to
teach. Also, he shouldn't fast or stop himself from eating and drinking,
or eat and drink too much. For all these things cause him to not be able
to teach properly, and any one who changes,3 he loses out,4 and we get
rid of him.
