159:1 Any woman who sees blood during her days of purification, needs to
count five days including that day, that is, from the day she saw
(blood) and another four days. Even if she saw (blood) at the end of the
day after the public had prayed, and she also, the evening service or
they brought in Shabbat, if it's still daytime, this day for her is
included in the count, and on the fifth day before evening before
twilight she should check herself carefully, and wash at least the lower
region,1 and put on clean white underwear, and also the rest of her
clothes should be clean, and this is called ''the end of purification'',
and in the night she should also put on her bed a clean white sheet.
Also the cushions and the chairs should all be clean, and from the
following day she starts to count seven clean days. There is no
difference between seeing a lot (of blood) and seeing a little, even if
she only saw one drop or found just a stain during the days of
purification, she always needs to wait five days. Similarly, even if she
saw blood the whole five days, but it stopped before twilight,2
immediately after the blood stopped she can end her (days of)
purification.

כל אשה שראתה דם בימי טהרתה צריכה למנות חמשה ימים עם יום זה דהיינו יום הראיה ועוד ארבעה ימים ואפילו ראתה בסוף היום לאחר שהתפללו הקהל וגם היא ערבית או קבלו שבת אם עדיין הוא יום עולה לה יום זה למנין וביום החמישי לעת ערב קודם בין השמשות תבדוק את עצמה היטב ותרחץ לכל הפחות פניה שלמטה ותלבש כתונת לבן ונקי וגם שאר הבגדים יהיו נקיים וזה נקרא ''הפסק טהרה'' ובלילה תציע על מטתה גם כן סדין לבן ונקי וגם הכרים והכסתות כולם יהיו נקיים ומיום המחרת מתחלת לספור שבעה נקיים ואין חילוק בין ראיה מרובה לראיה מועטת שאפילו לא ראתה אלא טפה אחת או שמצאה רק כתם בימי טהרתה לעולם צריכה להמתין חמשה ימים וכן אפילו ראתה דם כל החמשה ימים אלא שפסקה קודם בין השמשות מיד לאחר שפסק הדם יכולה להפסיק בטהרה |

159:2 In an emergency, for instance, if she is travelling, and she
doesn't have water at all, not even (enough) to wash her lower regions,
this doesn't delay,1 but she should wipe herself very well with whatever
is available, if she can clean (herself) with urine this is allowed, and
if she doesn't have (clean) white underwear she can also put on old
underwear, except that it should be checked that it doesn't have blood
stains on it.

| 159:3 Some (authorities) say that if the congregation has prayed the evening service even though it is still day she can no longer count the end of the purification from the next day, since the congregation has already made in the night, and other (authorities) say that she is allowed even if the congregation has brought in Shabbat. One is warned that from the start, or after the event, one must not be strict, and she can (count) the end of purification while it is still not twilight. However if also she has prayed the evening service and even more so if she has lit the Shabbat candles or for the festival, even though it is still day, she can no longer (count) the end of purification. In the summer, when many congregations pray the evening service while it is still day, and she needs to (count) the end of purification before this as we have written, that is, when it gets close to twilight she needs to check herself again, because the essence of the end of purification is the time closest to twilight. After the event, if she didn't check herself except in the morning and found she was clean, after the event, this is acceptable. | יש אומרים דאם התפללו הקהל ערבית אף על פי שעוד היום גדול אינה יכולה עוד להפסיק בטהרה שתמנה מיום המחרת מאחר שהקהל כבר עשו אותו לילה ויש אומרים דמותרת ואפילו עשו הקהל שבת ויש ליזהר לכתחלה ובדיעבד אין להחמיר ויכולה להפסיק בטהרה כל שעדיין אינו בין השמשות אבל אם גם היא התפללה ערבית ומכל שכן כשהדליקה נרות לשבת או ליום טוב אף על פי שעדיין יום גדול אינה יכולה עוד להפסיק בטהרה בקיץ אשר בהרבה קהלות מתפללין ערבית בעוד היום גדול שהיא צריכה לכתחלה להפסיק בטהרה קודם לכן כמו שכתבנו אזי כשיגיע סמוך לבין השמשות יש לה לבדוק את עצמה עוד הפעם כי עיקר הפסק טהרה הוא בעת היותר סמוך לבין השמשות ובדיעבד אם לא בדקה את עצמה אלא שחרית ומצאה טהורה בדיעבד סגי בכך |
