| 111:3 One checks all the rooms where one thinks that Chametz was brought into them, even the basements, attics, store-rooms and wood-sheds, every (place) where we think may have been brought in to there Chametz we must check them. We must also check all containers in which Chametz was kept. Before the search one should sweep (out) well all these places and clean them from all Chametz, so that it will be easier for one afterwards to check. | בודק כל החדרים שיש לחוש שמא הכניסו בהם חמץ אפילו המרתפים והעליות והחניות ובית העצים כל שיש לחוש שמא הכניסו שם חמץ צריכין לבדקו וכן צריכין לבדוק כל הכלים שמחזיקים בהם חמץ וקודם הבדיקה יכבדו היטב כל המקומות וינקו אותם מכל חמץ למען יהא נקל לו אחר כך לבדוק |
| 111:4 A cow shed where one puts there grain for the animals to eat, and also a chicken coop where one gives them grain, do not need searching, because (in) these the grain does not become Chametz. If we (might) find (grain) and say it will become Chametz, but they will eat it all and not leave anything. However, if one gives them grain which is already Chametz, and there is a doubt whether they will eat it all, we do not rely on this and we need to check. | רפת של בקר שנותנים שמה תבואה לבהמות לאכול וכן לול של תרנגולים שנותנים להם שם תבואה אינן צריכין בדיקה כי שמא לא נתחמצה כלל התבואה ואם תמצא לומר נתחמצה שמא אכלו הכל ולא שיירו כלום אבל אם נתנו להם שמה תבואה חמוצה שאין כאן אלא ספק אחד שמא אכלו הכל אין סומכין על זה וצריכין בדיקה |
| 111:5 One must check in all the places, in the holes and cracks as much as possible, also in the pockets of his clothes and of the children, because sometimes Chametz gets into them and they need checking. One should shake them out well the following day when burning (the Chametz). | צריכין לבדוק בכל המקומות בחורין ובסדקין כל מה שאפשר וגם הכיסים שבבגדים שלו ושל תינוקות שלפעמים נותנים בהן חמץ צריכין בדיקה וינערם היטב למחר בשעת הביעור |
