If a man went to a country beyond the sea and [in his absence] the path to his field was lost, Admon ruled: let him walk [to his field] By the shortest way. The Sages, however, ruled: let him either purchase a path for himself even though it [cost him] a hundred maneh or fly through the air. |

If a man produced a bond of indebtedness against another, and the latter pro duced [a deed of sale, shewing] that the former had sold him a field, Admon ruled; [the other] can say, had I owed you [anything] you would have recovered it when you sold me the field`. The Sages, however, say; this [seller] may have been a prudent man, since he may have sold him the land in order to be able to take it from him as a pledge. |
