NOTES
משנה ז
יגדור מיד - According to the רע"ב, this term is a derivative of that used for harvesting dates; the ר"ש is גורס this as יגרור, which seems to mean he drags it away, though the ר"ש interprets it as יחתוך, or he cuts it; he also brings the גרסא that read יגדור, by which the משנה would be indicting that a fence s placed between the vines and the grain crops.
ואם אירעו אונס - If, for example, his workers abandoned him.
שהיא נוטה תחת הגפן - Obviously, the grains were not planted in this way, but grew to lean under the vines.
כפול הלבן - Some translate this as hyacinth beans, see פרק א משנה א.
משנה ח
עציץ נקוב - The hole must be large enough for a root to pass through; there is a foreign species planted in the pot.
המעביר עציץ נקוב בכרם - Even if the pot is not set on the ground.
