כסא

A chair (whose seat is comprised of three panels)

whose middle panel was removed

and the outer ones remain,

is tamei;

if the outer ones were removed

and the middle one remains,

it is tamei;

Rabbi Shimon says,

[that is only] if it is a handbreadth wide.

כסא

A chair (whose seat is comprised of three panels)

that had two of its slats removed (from its seat)

one next to the other,

Rabbi Akiva rules is tamei,

and the Sages rule is tahor.

Rabbi Yehuda says

also the chair of a bride

who panels were removed

and the receptacle remains (this chair had a storage compartment or other similar space that could contain items)

it is tahor,

as when its main purpose is eliminated

its secondary purpose is eliminated.
