המקדש בתרומות |
One who betroths with trumah |
ובמעשרות |
or with maaser |
ובמתנות |
or with gifts (the parts of every animal slaughtered that must be given to a kohen) |
ובמי חטאת |
or with the water of a chattos (i.e. water drawn for mixing with the ashes of a para adumah) |
ובאפר חטאת |
or with the ashes a chattos (i.e. of a para adumah) |
הרי זו מקדשת |
she is betrothed, |
ואפלו ישראל |
even if he is a yisroel. |

פרק ג משנה א | |
האומר לחברו |
One who says to his colleague |
צא וקדש לי אשה פלונית |
go and betroth a certain woman for me, |
והלך וקדשה לעצמו |
and [the colleague] goes and betroths her to himself, |
מקדשת |
she is betrothed [to the second one]. |
וכן האומר לאשה |
And similarly one who says to a woman |
הרי את מקדשת לי |
"You are betrothed to me |
לאחר שלשים יום |
after thirty days," |
ובא אחר |
and another comes |
וקדשה בתוך שלשים יום |
and betroths her within the thirty days |
מקדשת לשני |
she is betrothed to the second; |
בת כהן לישראל |
if she was the daughter of a kohen [who was to be betrothed after thirty days] to a Yisroel |
or, according to an alternate גירסה: |

בת ישראל לכהן |
if she is the daughter of a Yisroel [who was betrothed within the thirty days] to a Kohen |
תאכל בתרומה |
she may eat trumah. |
מעכשיו ולאחר שלשים יום |
[If he said to her that she is betrothed] "From now and after thirty days," |
ובא אחר |
and another comes |
וקדשה בתוך שלשים יום |
and betroths her within the thirty days |
מקדשת ואינה מקודשת |
she is [considered] betrothed and not betrothed |
בת ישראל לכהן |
if she is the daughter of a Yisroel [who was to be betrothed after the thirty days] to a Kohen |
או בת כהן לישראל |
or the daughter of a Kohen [who was to be betrothed after the thirty days] to a Yisroel |
לא תאכל בתרומה |
she may not eat trumah. |

NOTES
משנה י
הרי זו מקדשת - As these are not considered divine property, although there can be restrictions on their use.
ואפלו ישראל - This refers to a ישראל who inherited from his maternal grandfather who was a כהן.
משנה א
מקדשת - We do not assume that if she would have known about the first one's offer she would have declined the second's, and so therefore it is a מקח טעות.
מקדשת ואינה מקודשת - As we cannot tell from this language whether he intended her to be betrothed immediately or after thirty days, we would require a גט from whichever of the two (or both) that she does not eventually marry.
