פרק ז משנה ה
הרי זה גטך [If a man says to his wife] "This is your get
על מנת שתתני לי on condition that you give me
מאתים זוז two hundred zuz"
הרי זו מגרשת she is divorced (as of that moment)
 ותתן and gives him [the money].
על מנת שתתני לי "On condition that you give [it to] me
מכאן ועד שלשים יום from now until thirty days from now"
אם נתנה לו if she gives it to him
בתוך שלשים יום within thirty days
מגרשת she is divorced
ואם לאו אינה מגורשת and if not she is not divorced.
אמר רבן שמעון בן גמליאל Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel says
מעשה בצידן there was an occurrence in Sidon
באחד שאמר לאשתו with a person who said to his wife
הרי זה גטך "this is your get
על מנת שתתני לי on condition that you give me
אצטליתי my cloak,"
ואבדה אצטליתו and she lost his cloak,
ואמרו חכמים and the sages said
תתן לו את דמיה give him its value.

הרי זה גטך

"This is your get
על מנת שתשמשי את אבא on condition that you serve my father,"
על מנת שתניקי את בני "On condition that you nurse my son,"
כמה היא מניקתו (within) how long must she nurse him?
שתי שנים Two years.
רבי יהודה אומר Rabbi Yehuda says
שמונה עשר חדש eighteen months.
מת הבן או שמת האב If the son dies or the father dies
הרי זה גט it is a valid get.

הרי זה גטך

"This is your get
על מנת שתשמשי את אבא on condition that you serve my father
שתי שנים two years,"
על מנת שתניקי את בני "On condition that you nurse my son
שתי שנים two years,"
מת הבן או שמת האב  and the son dies, or the father dies,
או שאמר האב or the father says
אי אפשי שתשמשני "I do not want you to serve me"
שלא בהקפדה without getting excited (i.e. through no fault of hers),
אינו גט it is not a get.
רבן שמעון בן גמליאל אומר Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel says
 כזה גט such is a get.
כלל אמר רבן שמעון בן גמליאל Rabban Shion ben Gamliel said a rule:
כל עכבה שאינה הימנה any prevention that is not because of her
הרי זה גט it is a valid get.
   

NOTES

משנה ה

הרי זה מגרשת ותתן - Even if prior to her paying him she loses the גט, and even if he attempts to retract, so long as she eventually pays it is a valid divorce.

אמר רבן שמעון בן גמליאל - The גמרא says that he is coming to argue on a missing part of this משנה, where the תנא קמא says that if a husband had said that  the גט is on condition that she give him his cloak, and she loses the cloak, she cannot substitute money for the cloak.  The theory behind this that when a husband imposes such a condition, he is intending to torment his wife, and so requires to her to fulfill the condition as he stated it.  רשב"ג argues, and holds that such a condition is made strictly for his own profit, not to torment her, and so as long as he gets the value he sought, the condition is deemed fulfilled.

משנה ו

כמה היא מניקתו - The גמרא explains that where, as here, he did not specify how much service or nursing he requires, it is as if he said that she must do so for one day.  Thus, she may serve the father at any time.  With regard to nursing the son however, the משנה asks when she must do that one day of nursing by in order to fulfill he condition of the גט, as after some point in time the child will be too old.

מת הבן או שמת האב - When making such a condition, we assume that the husband did not intend to torment her, but rather wanted her to satisfy a need.  As if the son or father has died the need no longer needs to be filled, the condition no longer needs to be met.

אינו גט - In these cases, where the husband specified a time period, we assume that he made he condition to torment her, and so if she cannot meet his demand she is not divorced.
