פרק ב משנה ה
הכל כשרין לכתוב את הגט All are qualified to write (the boilerplate) of the get (though not the date and the parties' names, which requires intent),
אפלו חרש שוטה וקטן even a deaf-mute, mental incompetent or minor.
האשה כותבת את גטה The woman may write her own get (but must transfer ownership of it to the husband before delivery back to her)
והאיש כותב שוברו and the man may write his own receipt (for the payment of the kesubah)
 שאין קיום הגט אלא בחותמיו as there is no foundation to the get other than from its signatories.
הכל כשרין להביא את הגט All are are qualified to bring the get
חוץ מחרש שוטה וקטן except for a deaf-mute, mental incompetent, minor,
 וסומא ונכרי blind person or gentile.
   
פרק ב משנה ו
קבל הקטן והגדיל If a minor receives [a get as the husband's messenger] and then reached the age of majority [before delivering it];
חרש ונתפקח a deaf-mute, who then became able to hear;
סומא ונתפתח a blind person, who then became able to see;
שוטה ונשתפה a mentally incompetent, who then became competent; [or]
נכרי ונתגיר a gentile, who then converted;
פסול it is invalid.
אבל פקח ונתחרש However [in the case of], a person who could hear [when receiving the a get from the husband], and then became deaf-mute
 וחזר ונתפקח

and then regained hearing [before delivering the get];

פתח ונסתמא a sighted person who was blinded
וחזר ונתפתח and then regained sight; [or]
שפוי ונשתטה a mentally competent person who then became incompetent
וחזר ונשתפה and then regained competence;
כשר it is valid.
זה הכלל This is the rule:
כל שתחלתו וסופו בדעת all that began and ended with the required competence
 כשר are valid.
   

NOTES

משנה ה

וסומא - This is only if the messenger will be required to state "בפני נכתב", otherwise, for a גט sent to and from within ארץ ישראל, a סומא may serve as the husband's שליח.
