| חיה ועוף במקום אחד | [One who slaughters] a wild animal and a bird in one place |
| כיסוי אחד לכלן | one covering [of the blood will suffice] for all of them; |
| רבי יהודה אומר | Rabbi Yehuda says |
| שחט חיה יכסנה | [If[ he [first] slaughtered the wild animal, he should cover [its blood] |
| ואחר כך ישחט את העוף | and after that slaughter the bird. |
| שחט ולא כסה | If one slaughtered [a wild animal or a bird, and did not cover its blood] |
| וראהו אחר | and another sees it |
| חיב לכסות | he [the other] is obligated to cover it. |
| כסהו ונתגלה | If he covered it and it was uncovered |
| פטור מלכסות | he is exempt from covering it [again]; |
| כיסהו הרוח | if the wind covered it [and then it became uncovered] |
| חיב לכסות | he is obligated to cover it [again]. |

| דם שנתערב במים | Blood [that must ordinarily be covered] that became mixed with water |
| אם יש בו מראית דם | if it [the mixture] has the appearance of blood |
| חיב לכסות | he is required to cover it. |
| נתערב ביין | If it became mixed with [red] wine, |
| רואין אותו כאילו הוא מים | we evaluate it as if it [the wine] was water (i.e. if the volume was such that, if it had been water it would have changed the appearance of the mixture so that it no longer looked like blood, he need not cover it). |
| נתערב בדם בהמה | If it became mixed with the blood of a domestic animal (which does not have to be covered) |
| או בדם חיה | or the blood of a wild animal (that was shed by means other than slaughter) |
| רואין אותו כאילו הוא מים | we evaluate it as if it [the blood] was water; |
| רבי יהודה אומר | Rabbi Yehuda says, |
| אין דם מבטל דם | blood does not nullify blood (and regardless the volume of blood that was mixed in, the mixture must be covered). |
