One may not on the festival be counted in as having a share in the animal at the outset, but [people] may be counted in on the Eve of the festival as having a share in the animal, and they slaughter it and divide it between them. R. Judah says: a man may weigh meat [on a festival] against a utensil or against a butcher`s chopper; but the Sages say: one may not look on the pair of scales at all.	ביצה 3.6 אין נמנין על הבהמה כתחילה ביום טוב; אבל נמנין עליה מערב יום טוב, ושוחטים ומחלקין ביניהם׃ רבי יהודה אומר, שוקל אדם בשר כנגד הכלי, או כנגד הקופיס; וחכמים אומרין, אין משגיחים בכף מאזניים כל עיקר
One may not whet a knife on a festival, but one may draw it over another knife [to sharpen it]. A man may not say to a butcher, `weigh me a dinar`s worth of meat`, but he slaughters [the animal] and shares it among them.	ביצה 3.7 אין משחיזים את הסכין, אבל משיאה על גבי חברתה׃ לא יאמר אדם לטבח, מכור לי בדינר בשר; אבל שוחט הוא, והן מחלקין ביניהם
