שלש מידות בבכורים | there are three levels of bikurim: |
הביכורים | The bikurim |
ותוספת הביכורים | and the supplement to bikurim |
ועיטור הביכורים | and the adornment of bikurim. |

מין במינו | are a species with its species |
ועיטור הביכורים | and the adornment of bikurim [can include] |
מין בשאינו מינו | a species with a different species; |
תוספת הביכורים | the supplement to bikurim |
נאכלת בטהרה | must be eaten while tahor |
ופטורה מן הדמאי | and is not subject to demai |

משנה ט
מעטרין את הבכורים - The מפרשים say that this מחלוקת extends to produce from חוץ לארץ as well, with רשב"נ allowing them and ר"ע prohibiting their use.
משנה י
תוספת הביכורים - Strictly speaking, bikurim have no שיער מדאורייתא, and were comprised of only the first fruit to ripen; thus תוספת הביכורים were additional fruits added to those first fruits. עיטור הביכורים were merely used to decorate the baskets, as previously discussed. נאכלת בטהרה - This is the same rule as applies to the bikurim themselves. The משנה ראשונה points out that the תנא does not mention that it can only be eaten by kohanim and only after washing one's hand, as is the case by the bikurim themselves, and speculates that this may what differentiates those two מדות. Another difference, according to the משנה ראשונה, is that while the supplement to bikurim are פטורה מן הדמאי (demai is, simply put, produce for which one is מסופק as to whether or not maaser has been separated), they are מחויב in maaser itself.
