| ומנין |
And from where do we know |
| שהוא חייב באחריותן | that he [the grower] is responsible for them [the bikurim] |
| עד שיביאם להר הבית |
until he brings them to the Temple Mount? |
| שנאמר |
Because it says: |
| ראשית בכורי אדמתך |
"The initial first fruits of your land |
|
תביא בית ה' אלהיך (שמות כג:יט) |
you should bring to the house of Hashem your Lord" |
| מלמד |
to teach you |
| שחיב באחריותם |
that he is responsible for them |
| עד שיביא להר הבית |
until he brings them to the Temple Mount. |
| הרי שהביא |
If one brought [bikurim] |
| ממין אחד וקרא |
from one variety |
| חזר והביא ממין אחר |
and returns and brings from a different variety |
| הרי זה אינו קורא |
such a person does not recite. |

| ואלו מביאין וקורין |
And these bring and recite: |
| מן העצרת ועד החג |
[those who bring bikurim] from Shavuos until Succos |
| משבעת המינים |
from the Seven Species |
| מפירות שבהרים |
from fruits of the mountains |
| מתמרים שבעמקים |
and dates of the valleys |
| ומזיתי שמן |
and from olives for oil |
| מעבר לירדן |
[and produce that is] from Transjordan |
| רבי יוסי הגלילי אומר |
Rebbi Yosi Hagelili says |
| אין מביאין בכורים |
we do not bring bikurim |
| מעבר לירדן |
from the Transjordan |
| שאינה ארץ |
as it is not of the "Land |
|
זבת חלב ודבש (דברים כו:ט) |
flowing with milk and honey" |
NOTES
משנה ט
הרי שהביא ממין אחד וקרא - According to רע"ב this follows the opinion of Rebbi Yehuda in משנה ז, as the ת"ק there holds that the פסוק of הגדתי היום limits the recital to once per person per plot of land. Rebbi Yehuda there did not make that דרשה, and so the תנא tells us here that even according to him, one person cannot make the recital twice.
משנה י
מפירות שבהרים מתמרים שבעמקים - These are superior varieties of fruits and dates [cf. משנה ג where the opposite is discussed]. מעבר לירדן - Although not labeled זבת חלב ודבש, the ת"ק holds that bikurim can be brought from its fruits (and not just olives) as it can be accurately called האדמה אשר נתת לי as stated in the recital made over bikurim. It seems according to the רמב"ם, however, this is only מדרבנן, due to the פסוק cited by Rebbi Yosi Hagelili; עיין במלאכת שלמה.
