In a place where it is the custom to sell small cattle to idolaters, such sale is permitted; but where the custom is not to sell, such sale is not permitted. In no place however is it permitted to sell big cattle, calves or foals, whether whole or maimed. R. Judah permits in the case of a maimed one and Ben Bathyra permits in the case of a horse.

מקום שנהגו למכור בהמה דקה לגויים, מוכרין; מקום שנהגו שלא למכור, אין מוכרין׃ ואל ישנה אדם, מפני המחלקות׃ ובכל מקום, אין מוכרין להן בהמה גסה, עגלים וסייחים, שלמים ושבורין׃ רבי יהודה מתיר בשבורה׃ בן בתירה מתיר בסוס.

One should not sell them bears, lions or anything which may injure the public. One should not join them in building a basilica, a scaffold, a stadium, or a platform. But one may join them in building pedestals [for altars] and also [private-] baths. When however he reaches the cupola in which the idol is placed he must not build.

אין מוכרין להן דובין ואריות, ולא כל דבר שיש בו ניזקה לרבים׃ אין בונין עימהן בסילקי, וגרדון, אסטדיא, ובימה׃ אבל בונין עימהן דימוסיות ומרחצאות; הגיעו לכיפה שמעמידין בה עבודה זרה, אסור לבנותה.
