| הוא היה אומר | He [Rabbi Akiva] would say, |
| חביב אדם | "Man is beloved |
| שנברא בצלם | as he was created in the image [of God]; |
| חבה יתרה נודעת לו | a greater love [is that] it was made known to him |
| שנברא בצלם שנאמר | that he was created in the image, as it says: |
| כי בצלם אלהים | 'For in the image of the Lord |
| עשה את האדם | he made man'; |
| י(בראשית ט:ו)י | |
| חביבין ישראל | Israel is beloved |
| שנקראו בנים למקום | as they are called children of God; |
| חבה יתרה נודעת להם | a greater love [is that] it was made known to them |
| שנקראו בנים למקום שנאמר | that they are called children of God, as it says: |
| בנים אתם לה' אלהיכם | 'You are children to God your Lord'; |
| י(דברים יד:א)י | |
| חביבין ישראל | Israel is beloved |
| שנתן להם כלי חמדה | as they were given a desirable tool; |
| חבה יתרה נודעת להם | a greater love [is that] it was made known to them |
| שנתן להם כלי חמדה | that they were given a desirable tool |
| שבו נברא העולם שנאמר | with which the world was created, as it says: |
| כי לקח טוב נתתי לכם | 'For a good present I gave them, |
| תורתי אל תעזובו | my Torah do not forsake.'" |

| הכל צפוי | All is known, |
| והרשות נתונה | permission is given, |
| ובטוב העולם נדון | the world is judged with goodness, |
| והכל לפי רוב המעשה | and all is according to an abundance of deeds. |
